James Watt

James Watt

James Watt was born on January 19, 1736. He was a Scottish inventor, engineer, and chemist. He developed a workable steam engine that utilized a separate condenser. The condenser made the steam engine a useful tool for a vast range of uses including the steam-driven locomotive. In many ways, Watt's improvement on an earlier Newcomen steam engine was the technological impetus behind the Industrial Revolution. Watt died on August 25, 1819.
