Christmas at Strasburg Rail Road

At the Strasburg Rail Road at Christmas Santa and his helpers arrive and transform the railroad into a magical wonderland filled with classic stories, a Christmas Feast, music and the magic of the season. To help spark your holiday spirit, they’ve compiled some of the top reasons why their Christmas trains should make it to the top of your family to-do list.

Celebrate Christmas at Strasburg Rail Road

Reason #1: The Christmas Tree Train

Selecting that perfect tree for the big day is an important task. Their Christmas Tree Train makes this yearly duty a magical experience for the entire family. They offer three departure times on December 2nd, where you’ll travel down the track to pick your pre-cut tree.

Once passengers arrive at Leaman Place Grove they have approximately one hour to choose and purchase their special tree, while enjoying complimentary hot chocolate. After you’ve selected your tree, it will be delivered, by flatcar, back at the station where their friendly staff members will assist you in loading your tree into your vehicle.

Reason #2:: Santa’s Paradise Express

What’s Christmas without Santa? Join Santa’s Paradise Express where Santa climbs aboard for a nostalgic 45-minute steam train ride. As a special treat, children ages 11 and under will receive a gift from Santa and his helper as they travel down the tracks to Paradise, PA.

Reason #3: The Night Before Christmas Train

Purchase a ticket to their Night Before Christmas Train to hear Clement Clarke Moore’s classic poem, the Night Before Christmas, read aloud as their steam train travels through the night. After listening to this iconic story, passengers aboard the Night Before Christmas Train each can enjoy a special treat of milk and cookies, just like Santa.

Reason #4: Christmas Feast

We may not have the Grinch’s Roast Beast, but they do have quite the Christmas Feast available on the Dinner Train. Enjoy a delicious Christmas dinner complete with all the trimmings including honey-glazed ham, slow-cooked turkey, savory sides and delectable desserts.

Reason #5: Holiday Extras

It wouldn’t be a traditional Christmas without those classic storybooks we all know and love. Visit the heated stationary Caboose where children will be treated to storybook readings of holiday classics. And visitors of all ages can enjoy a ride aboard the Tinsel Trolley, a self-propelled motorcar, back at the station. These festive extras are FREE with the purchase of your ticket.

Reason #6: Shopping

Stock up on souvenir gifts for the family at any of our three stores located at the Station. There's a wide selection of gifts, books, toys and apparel in their two gift shops. Their toy store offers a huge selection of Thomas-themed merchandise to make Christmas extra-special for all of your little engineers.

Reason #7: A Christmas Tradition

Santa Claus has been coming to the Strasburg Rail Road since 1959. It's a Christmas tradition that happens every year.
